[Immediately after waking up in the infirmary post-that-flood-where-she-tried-to-eat-everybody, Angua fled to the CES to enjoy her death toll in privacy as a wolf. As soon as the ship landed, she decided that wasn't fleeing far enough and bolted out to the far reaches of Wonderland. In other words, this is first time anyone's seen her face in a while, and she looks pretty guilty about that.]

So listen, I know this is quite belated, but I'm really very sorry to anyone I may have, er. Mauled. I'm much better than that now, I promise.

[Not that she's expecting this will make much difference, but...] And I'm especially sorry to you. I heard you're doing all right, though? The infirmary said.

Thank you. You were right to do it. [Even if it's going to take her a while before she can look either of them in the eye, and not only out of embarrassment; the memory of the silver going into her back is going to stay with her for a long time.]

It wasn't personal, exactly. My family... has a lot of very wrong ideas about humans and werewolves. Things I didn't understand until I grew up a little more.

And you had no mercy for children?

That was thankfully the first time it ever came up for me, but... apparently not. [She sighs.] I suppose that shouldn't come as a surprise -- I know they didn't. [There's something a little dark there.]

I have not seen you since then. Where did you go?

The CES. Mostly. I... was death tolling.

You didn't say anything. [ It took you this long just to ask if she was okay. ]

About my childhood?

After the flood ended. I believe it is common courtesy to stay in touch with one's inmate.

Oh. [She looks a little caught off-guard.] I checked in with the infirmary when I woke up. They said you were all right.

I do not believe that qualifies as 'staying in touch'.

[Now she's definitely off-guard, and sounds hesitant.] Sorry... I didn't think it would bother you. [Seriously, Satsuki, since when do you care?]

Perhaps you should have spent longer thinking about it. [ She doesn't know what's up either, and it really freaks her out. ]

[Normally, she'd be a little annoyed at the talking back, but A: she deserves it, and B: seriously, what is going on?]

...Are you feeling all right right now?

I don't know. [ No. ]

...Do you want to go back to the infirmary?

I am already in the infirmary, doing my job.

I meant as a patient. Are you sick? [Are you dying??]

I am in good physical condition. [ Mental, not so much. ]

[Pause. Good gods, is this a breakthrough of some kind?] Do you want to... talk about it?

Maybe. I'm not sure. [ She is at such a loss here. ]

Come to my room when your shift is over.

[She will be waiting, and very confused.]

[ She stops by a few hours later and knocks on the door. She looks absorbed in thought and a great deal more expressive than usual. Her face is twisted into a frown. ]

[This is just about as foreign as her as it is for Satsuki. She gestures for her to take a seat at the little table, then awkwardly sets down a glass of water for her, and takes an uncomfortable seat across from her.]

I'm sorry I didn't, you know, check in. Honestly, I thought you were doing all right.
