It's come to my attention recently that some wardens have been showing a certain bias against certain residents of this Barge, and that this bias is largely racial in nature. Lads, I'm only going to say this once: vampires may be vampires, but they're our vampires, and they're here to be helped, not harassed for what they are. They're particularly not responsible for the crimes of other vampires.

Please keep this in mind. Mr. Dracula is extremely upset about it, and I happen to know he's not the only one.

[She pauses briefly, struggling with something, but then adds:]

Incidentally, to clear up some confusion on the matter: Yes, I'm a werewolf. As far as I know, I'm the only one -- and I would know if I weren't. I'm a strict vegetarian, I've never killed anything bigger than a chicken -- and I've been steering clear of yours, Arkady -- and no, our bites won't and never have turned anyone into a vicious, drooling animal. From what I understand, those who would be have managed it just fine on their own.

Excuse me, Mr. Vincent, but I grew up in Uberwald, which is vampire country where I'm from. I know what they can do. I also know what they can choose not to do.

Was Mr. Dracula the one who fed on you? Or your friend? Is that why you felt it was appropriate to-- [She holds up a notepad, reading off of it:] verbally attack Mr. Dracula, calling him a "monster" with "no conscience or soul", and "laugh[ing] at his ambition to graduate"?

I don't believe their attitude has anything to do with their race. Vampires are capable of good while still being vampires, just as a human is capable of feats of sheer cruelty and evil.

[Talk about your insurmountable arguments. If there's one thing that Arkady knows, it's that there are some things that can only be worked out through a gradual wearing-down, and not through explosive confrontations. Some people do benefit from a judicious application of the clue by four, but others clam up; shut down. And once that happens there's no way to continue until the lines of communication are back open. Having given Angua her omeletty vote of confidence, she focuses on the bitter one, because she knows he is ironically the one most in need of help.]

[The screen turns on to a large root beer mug, a tub of Haagen Daazs vanilla bean ice cream, and a tall flagon of blue liquid. A pair of slim pale hands are working on putting these three objects together to form a creamy, fizzy whole.]

Having watched the whole mess I do 'ave to say that I have many feelings. But first among them is this: you need a break. You see this? This is a Romulan Ale Float. It's got your name on it.

Unfortunately, I know from experience that training won't fix it. People are... people, for better or worse.

The wolf half has a taste for them, I'm afraid, but really, I won't touch them. She gets by just fine with cafeteria leftovers.

The vampires that haven't done anything bloody wrong, you mean. I'm not talking about Lestat -- I'm talking about a man who's been reformed from killing for at least as long as I've been here, as far as I can tell. As opposed to the several humans who've committed murder on our watch.

What about me, for that matter? What about werewolves?

I will agree - inmates are here to be helped, regardless of origin. Our job is to foster an environment that is conducive to their rehabilitation, including inmates that are not our own. It's not in the job description, but it is the considerate thing to do.

Quite honestly, I think it is in the job description. Unofficially, maybe, but all the same.

[Dean shouldn't touch this one. He really, really shouldn't. He even knows it when he flips the feed on, but it's been bothering him, and he's calmer now; maybe she will be too. Maybe he'll be able to figure out how the hell Sam does this shit without yelling or shooting at someone.

Still, it's a little known fact that Dean has some sense of manners; seeing the comment war and seeing as how it's her post, he figures he owes her at least the option to figuratively kick him out, or to switch their conversation to private before he says anything specific. He looks wary and still a little bruised and cut up, but basically alright, and he is of course smirking, though not for once in an antagonizing way.]

Vicious, drooling animals, huh? This mean you're still mad at me?

That's pretty much the answer you're getting, Dean, because she's pissed off at everything right now and not in the mood for banter.]

[It appeals to his sense of possessiveness and obligation to protect his own. And although he certainly doesn't like vampires as a whole, he's learned to make some exceptions for individuals, and Dracula has been a good ally in some tight spots. (And he doesn't much like humans as a whole, either, or really any races--including sometimes his own.)]
