The, er, this, sir. Right now. We only get calls-- like clackses... Anyway, we only get contact from the outside four times a year or so.

I did speak to Cheery last time, sir. Did she tell you?

[This is Sam Vimes' relieved face, as he understands more or less what's happening and, more importantly, that it's not going to require paperwork. He doesn't precisely lean back in his chair, but someone who knows him very well might pick up a certain relaxation in the lines of his posture.]

[It's been half a year for her (in Disc years -- why are Earth years so strange and short?), but she still knows Mister Vimes Sign. She relaxes slightly, too, although there's a hint of sheepishness in her expression.]

Not... especially, Commander. I had one inmate, but he bug-- he was recalled after only a short time, sir. I did just have a bit of a breakthrough with the second. [Oh, also, she turned into the girl version of that horrible man you killed. In a rare show of, well, anything, she bites her lip briefly.] I was... thinking of requesting a deal.

[Well that's an interesting development. Not that it would do to show interest and scare it away before he's gotten a chance to look at it properly, but still.]

And does that thinking include what it would be?
